National Honor Society

National Honor Society

Supervisor: Wendy Mann

The National Honor Society is an organization that recognizes and encourages academic achievement while also developing other characteristics essential to citizens in a democracy. The ideals of scholarship, character, service, and leadership remain as relevant and important today as they were when the National Honor Society was originally founded in 1921.

Each spring, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior students who have a GPA of 3.5 (non-weighted) or 3.75 (weighted) have the opportunity to apply for admission into this very prestigious organization.

This year, National Honor Society has chosen the philanthropic organization of Susan G. Komen. Our school initiative is beautification of Nitro High School. Members have painted classrooms, cleaned the breezeway, and organized various rooms around the school.
